What is Climate Change/Global Warming? I can think of so many issues that are going on in the world around us. A few could include world hunger, lack of drinkable water, and poverty. However, one world issue that really stands out to me is climate change. Some people might not know it, but climate change affects each and every individual on the planet.
Climate change was caused by the actions of humans; in fact, 70 million metric tons of carbon dioxide is being added into the atmosphere every day, due to the burning of fossil fuels. To make matters worse, humans are also cutting down trees and destroying habitats that would usually absorbs the carbon dioxide, or CO2, in the air. With all of the extra CO2 in the air it causes our atmosphere to deteriorate. Scientists know that climate change is happening because of the natural disasters that occur. Natural disasters are becoming harder to predict and stronger every time they come up. Some people would argue that climate change is a myth and that it’s fake, but I believe it’s real. Climate change is in full affect and happening all around the world. There is no time to mess around anymore, either we chose to save the world now, or we continue living in a disaster. “9 Ways We Know Humans Triggered Climate Change.” Environmental Defense Fund, EDF, www.edf.org/climate/9-ways-we-know-humans-triggered-climate-change. “Why Is Climate Change Happening and What Are the Causes?” What Is an Earthquake and What Causes Them to Happen?, USGS, www.usgs.gov/faqs/what-are-some-signs-climate-change-1?qt-news_science_products=0#qt-news_science_products. |
What are green house gases?
Greenhouse gases are the gases that are causing our atmosphere to deteriorate. Some of these gases include CO2, Methane, Nitrous oxide, and other gases that are released in the air. When these gases are released into the air they move around the whole world. For example, if CO2 was released in Cairo, NE overtime it could end up in Tokyo, Japan. That is why it is going to take the whole world in order to stop this movement.
These gases are released in many different ways. CO2 is released into the air by burning fossil fuels, driving cars, using electricity, and cutting down trees. Methane gas is released by the breaking down of landfill, mining coal, and raising livestock. Nitrous oxide is being released by fertilizer, the burning of fossil fuels, and industrial and manufacturing processes. These gases being released into the air might not seem like a big deal but it is. With all of these extra gases in the air it causes for more heat to be trapped into our atmosphere. This would be where global warming would come into play.
These gases stay in the air for decades at a time. Since these gases are being added into the air every second of everyday, then we will never be able to have a stable atmosphere, unless people are willing to make a change. That is why you and every other person should be doing what they can to restore the atmosphere. If you have the chance to ride your bike somewhere instead of driving, please do it, because you could be the start to a new beginning.

How does climate change affect the environment?
Climate change does a huge number of things to our environment. Not only does it affect the environment, but it also affects every human around the world. With our environment deteriorating, so does the land that humans use to raise livestock and grow crops. Water pollution is also staring to become an issue because of our climate deteriorating.
According to the Environmental Defense Fund, farmers are having a hard time growing crops in this bipolar weather. The weather patterns are becoming very irregular and it is causing crops to die and then farmers are losing all of their money. One of the hardest things that farmers have to go through is the shortage of water, and with no water the crops die. With the warmer atmosphere comes smog, and smog can be very dangerous to humans because it causes asthma attacks and lung problems.
Climate change obviously has a huge effect on human life. Since farmers are having a hard time growing their crops, that means less fresh produce for everyone around the world. Not only that, but people around the world are going to be getting sick because of the smog that hangs in the air. This should be an indication to people that if we don’t stop climate change we won’t have to worry about getting the food we need. I believe that everyone in the world should participate in making the climate change for the better!
